Staff - Colin MacPhee
Design Engineer
Experience
I have worked in the Scottish Construction Industry from the age of 16. Originally I trained as a Quantity Surveyor with a local Contractor, but moved into a design role with the Local Water Department after completion of my initial training. Starting initially as a Draughtsman over a period of 12 years, I worked my way to Project Technician and eventually Project Engineer.
On leaving the Local Authority I worked initially as a Senior Project Engineer with a local Engineering Consultancy on marine projects. On leaving this post I worked Freelance as a Technical Manager for the Scottish Water on a £40 million pound capital investment programme installing Wastewater Treatment Plants around the Highland & Islands.
For the past six years I have worked as Director of Gunn MacPhee & Associates Ltd, an engineering Design consultancy which I set up in 2003 with my business partner and friend Norman Gunn. This period has been this most demanding time in my working career but ultimately also the most rewarding and enjoyable.
